PCL TOURNAMENT
In the opening round of the PCL tournament Thursday night, Woodbridge held serve to win at home over University and will face Irvine on Monday in the semifinals. The Warriors built a 10-point margin early in the second quarter on the shooting of junior guard Jaiden Sabino and led 51-38 at half.
They expanded the lead to 20 points in the third quarter before the Trojans cut the lead back to 10. That margin held for most of the fourth quarter until Woodbridge scored some late buckets to expand the final margin. The difference in the game was turnovers, with University giving the ball away 18 times to just seven for Woodbridge.
Woodbridge (13-12, 4-4) was led by Sabino with 23 points and five 3-pointers. He broke open the game in the second quarter with 12 points. Senior forward Jason Briggs was a force with 18 points. Forwards Garrett Diconstanzo and Zac Saleh each tallied nine points while guard Kishan Pandoh scored eight points.
University (5-17, 2-5) was shorthanded, but had some solid individual performances. Senior forward Eli Pretto had a career high 19 points to go along with nine rebounds. Junior point guard Savion Ruth had a double double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Senior guard Shervin Moarrefian finished with 14 points and four 3-pointers. University hosts St. Margaret’s on Monday in the consolation semifinals.

IRVINE 74, ST. MARGARET’S 42: Top seeded Irvine (24-2) won at home Thursday night. Cooper Stearns had 23 points, 14 rebounds and seven assists, Jalen Yim 13 points, two rebounds and two steals and Taewon Kim five points and three assists. The Vaqueros will host Woodbridge Monday at 7 p.m.

SUNSET LEAGUE
LOS ALAMITOS 68, CORONA DEL MAR 58: The Griffins (18-8, 10-0) clinched the outright league title, their third in a row, with the win. Samori Guyness had 22 points and Trent Minter 19 points to lead Los Alamitos. The Griffins still have two more league games to go.

TARBUT V’TORAH 72, SOUTHLAND CHRISTIAN 32: Ari Varon lead the Lions with 21 points including five 3-pointers. Jake Coblentz-Brown scored 17 points and grabbed 14 boards rebounds while Eli Feinberg continued his hot shooting dropping with 16 points.
SERVITE 75, SADDLEBACK 34: The Friars (13-12) were led by Daouda Nidiaye with 22 points and Bryson Allen with 19 points.
CAPO VALLEY CHRISTIAN 80, WEBB SCHOOL 43: The Cougars (22-4) were led by Michael Ahern, who had 28 points and Shaunt Kechejian, who had 23 points. Matthew Ahern added 14 points.
