One person in custody due to suspicious death investigation

On Saturday, July 16, 2022, at approximately 3:00 p.m., the Huntington Beach Police Department (HBPD) responded to reports of suspicious circumstances at a residence on the 7800 block of Slater Avenue. Officers secured the location and requested the assistance of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. An unidentified deceased adult female was located at the residence. The investigation revealed her death as being suspicious.

Based on the ongoing investigation, the HBPD took a person of interest into custody in the early morning of Sunday, July 17, without incident. We are not releasing the identity of the subject at this time.

HBPD Detectives and OC Crime Lab are still on the scene as the investigation continues. The deceased female has not been identified as of yet.

The investigation into this incident is still ongoing and more details will be released at a later time. There is no current public safety threat related to this incident.
