On the Move: Carlos Leija Named VP of Philanthropy at Jamboree

Carlos Leija has been appointed the inaugural Vice President of Philanthropy at Jamboree, a nonprofit affordable housing developer headquartered in Irvine. In this new role, Leija will lead all philanthropic initiatives to support Jamboree’s mission of transforming lives and strengthening communities through high-quality housing and resident-focused services.

Leija brings more than 25 years of experience in higher education and nonprofit fundraising. He began his philanthropic career at Cal State Fullerton in 1998, advancing from major gift officer to Executive Director of Alumni Engagement. In 2007, he joined Orangewood Foundation as Chief Development Officer, where he led fundraising efforts including the campaign to build Samueli Academy.

Most recently, Leija returned to Cal State Fullerton as Associate Vice President for College & Program Development, where he successfully directed the major gift fundraising efforts for the university’s first comprehensive campaign, It Takes A Titan, raising over $270 million.

He holds a B.A. in Psychology from Cal State Fullerton, a B.S. in Human Biology from the Southern California College of Health Sciences, and a certificate in Fundraising Management from the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy at Indiana University.
