ANAHEIM, Calif. (December 28, 2024) – An officer-involved shooting occurred after police responded to a robbery call for service. A weapon was located at the scene.

On December 27, 2024, at approximately 8:00 p.m., Anaheim Police officers responded to the 1200 block of E. South Street after they were called to investigate a possible robbery. When the officers arrived, they encountered the suspect, and an officer-involved shooting occurred. The suspect was struck by gunfire, and the officers immediately rendered first aid. Anaheim Fire & Rescue personnel were called to the scene for further medical treatment. The suspect was transported to the hospital, where, shortly after arrival, he was pronounced deceased. A realistic-looking replica firearm was located at the shooting scene.

The suspect was a male adult, approximately 30 years old. The Orange County Sheriff-Coroner’s office will release his identity once confirmed.

Four officers were involved in the shooting. They were not injured during this incident.

Due to the type of weapon recovered at the scene, the California Department of Justice responded to investigate the circumstances of the officer-involved shooting. Anaheim PD Homicide Detectives, the Anaheim PD Major Incident Review Team (MIRT), Anaheim PD Internal Affairs, and personnel from the Anaheim Police Review Board (PRB) and Office of Independent Review (OIR) will also review the incident. No additional details can be provided as the investigation is ongoing.
