Ocean View High left-hander JT Lewis threw a six-hit complete game and Sam Arredondo and Luke Gordon homered to lift the Seahawks to a 13-2 victory over Fullerton in an Empire League baseball game Tuesday at Ocean View.
Lewis, a Grand Canyon University commit, struck out six and did not walk a batter to help the Seahawks (12-16, 8-4) finished the regular season in second place in league.
“I felt great, and our offense gave me a lot of confidence by getting a lot of runs early,” said Lewis, a 6-2 senior. “I knew I just had to go out and throw strikes and I had trust that my defense had my back. It’s a good win giving us momentum going into the playoffs.”

Trailing 1-0, Ocean View pushed across three runs in the first inning behind key RBI singles from Carson Sulsona and Gordon.
The Seahawks posted five more runs in the second inning keyed by consecutive RBI hits by Sam Arredondo, Sulsona and Sevinn Thorndike. Gordon then blasted a two-run two-out homer, his first of his career, to left center giving Ocean View a commanding 8-1 lead.
“I hit it high, but I didn’t know if it was gone,” said Gordon, the Seahawks catcher who is committed to play for Bethel University in St. Paul, Minnesota next season. “When I saw it was over the fence it was sweet, and it felt cool. This is a huge win for us and big momentum boost for us going into the playoffs.” Gordon had two hits, three RBI and scored two runs in the game.
Gordon said Lewis was on his game.
“JT’s changeup and slider were alive today and he had a low pitch count,” said Gordon. “We’re never out of a game when he’s on the mound.”
Arredondo clouted his second career homer, a two-run shot, in the fifth inning, upping the Seahawks lead to10-1.
“I hit a fast ball and at first I thought it was a fly out,” said Arredondo, who had three hits, scored three runs and had three RBI. “We are playing our best baseball of the season right now and we can still get better.”
Sulsona turned in a strong game as he had two hits, scored two runs, and had three RBI for the Seahawks.
“We feel our confidence growing and the best is yet to come in the playoffs,” said Sulsona, a junior.
Ocean View coach Tanner VanMannen was happy to see his team end a three-game skid.
“JT did what we expect a D1 pitcher to do,” said VanMaanen. “He was throwing strong throughout the game and we let him go all the way. We had a breakout game and beat a good club today. Now it’s on to the playoffs and we’ll see what happens.”
Fullerton (18-9-1 and 9-3) had its five-game winning streak snapped.
Indians coach Shaun Hill, whose team earned its fourth consecutive league title this season, said his team looks forward to the playoffs.
“We got a lot of guys some playing time who don’t get to play as much and a few others got some rest,” said Hill. “Ocean View did a good job, but we’ll go back home and get ready for the playoffs next week.”
Malachi Meni led the Indians with two doubles.
