INDIE SEMICONDUCTOR
WHY: Co-founded chip company uses sensors, semiconductors and software with a goal to enable the “uncrashable” car. The Aliso Viejo-based chip company, which was founded in 2007 and went public in 2021 when it raised $495M through a SPAC. It focuses on technology for advanced driver assistance systems—often referred to as ADAS. The many uses for ADAS include traffic jam pilot, parking assist, obstacle detection, facial detection and radar.
IN THE NEWS: Holds five patents worldwide and earned a master’s degree in engineering electronics and electrical from the University of Glasgow. Prior to cofounding Indie, was a vice president of marketing at Axiom Microdevices tasked with driving company strategy, developing sales engagements and building industry partnerships. Before Axiom, was a product line director at Skyworks/Conexant.
NOTABLE: Indie’s 2024 revenue grew nearly 4% to $202.7M. Company (Nasdaq: INDI) says its prospects for this year are positive, despite the huge pressures facing the chip industry.
