OC teams compete in Alan Dugard Softball Invitational beginning Saturday

The annual Alan Dugard Softball Invitational hosted by Woodbridge High School begins with a full schedule of games Saturday, March 22 at Bill Barber Park, including Deanna Manning Stadium and several other adjoining fields.

The tournament is named after former legendary Woodbridge softball coach Alan Dugard, who is expected to be in attendance. Dugard still attends practices and many games for his former team.

Teams are grouped into eight pools.

After Saturday’s games, the schedule for Monday will be announced, according to one of Woodbridge’s softball coaches Jerry Rose.

The finals will be held on Saturday, March 29 at Bill Barber Park. The bronze championship will be held at 10:15 a.m., the silver division at 2:45 p.m. and the gold championship at 7:15 p.m. on that day.

Deanna Manning Stadium: 8:15 a.m. Tesoro vs. Edison, 10:30 a.m. Tesoro vs. La Serna, 12:45 p.m. Edison vs. La Serna, 3 p.m. Redondo vs. Los Altos, 5:15 p.m. Redondo vs. Dana Hills, 7:30 p.m. Los Altos vs. Dana Hills.

Field 2: 8:15 a.m. Torrance vs. Fountain Valley, 10:30 a.m. Torrance vs. Long Beach Wilson, 12:45 p.m. Fountain Valley vs. LB Wilson, 3 p.m. Brea Olinda vs. Vasquez, 5:15 p.m. Aliso Niguel vs. Vasquez, 7:30 p.m. Brea Olinda vs. Aliso Niguel.

Field 3: 8 a.m., Woodbridge vs. Newport Harbor, 10:15 a.m., Santa Margarita vs. Newport Harbor; 12:30 p.m., Santa Margarita vs. Woodbridge; 2:45 p.m. Palos Verdes vs. Centennial, 5 p.m. Palos Verdes vs. Irvine, 7:15 p.m. Centennial vs. Irvine.

Field 4: 8 a.m. Mater Dei vs. San Juan Hills, 10:15 a.m. Mater Dei vs. Burroughs, 12:30 p.m. Burroughs vs. San Juan Hills, 2:45 p.m. Hart vs. Peninsula, 5 p.m. Hart vs. El Toro, 7:15 p.m. Peninsula vs. El Toro.
