
The unemployment rate in Orange County was 4.5% in June, up from a revised 3.6% in May and above the year-ago estimate of 4.1%, the California Employment Development Department said.
That compares with an unadjusted unemployment rate of 5.7% for California and 4.4% for the nation during the same period.
Between May and June total non-farm employment increased from 1,695,500 to 1,697,200, a gain of 2,200 jobs.
The largest month-over increase was in construction, up 2,600 jobs.
Private education and health services had the largest payroll decline, losing 2,100 jobs.
