Players from Orange County high schools helped the SoCal Renegades baseball team capture the Connie Mack World Series championship last weekend in Farmington, N.M.

“It was incredible,” said former Northwood coach Doug Euper, who was one of the assistant coaches. “There were about 7,000 fans for the championship game.”

His son Casey Euper, a former Northwood standout who has signed with UC Santa Barbara, was one of the pitchers.

The Renegades defeated the Midland Redskins 6-0 in the championship game. Ryan Halamicek from Cal State Northridge, who was named the pitcher of the tournament and earned all-tournament honors, threw a complete game.

Jake Amundson (Woodbridge, Irvine Valley College) drove in the first two runs to give the Renegades the lead during a five-run third inning according to a story by Steven Bortstein of the Tri-City Record.

Wyatt Madison from Los Alamitos High School who is now with Concordia University was named MVP of the tournament, Euper said.

“He was incredible on the mound in his start,” Doug Euper said. “Very clutch at the plate and a great young man on top of that.”

Taylor Kirk (Long Beach Wilson), Noah Neufeld (Laguna Beach) and Ryder Young (Chaffee College) were named to the all-tournament team.

Travis Curry from Huntington Beach earned the Gold Glove award.

Simon Pettrow was the Renegades manager. Tim Ursich Jr, Craig Wilson and Euper were assistant coaches for the team which was 7-0-1. The Renegades won a qualifying tournament in Fullerton to qualify for the championship.
