NORTHWOOD 8, BECKMAN 5: The Timberwolves (5-2, 4-1) stayed close to league-leading Woodbridge with a victory Wednesday at Northwood. Woodbridge has played one more league game than the rest of the teams in the eight-team league.
Bobby Bangs was the winning pitcher. He pitched six innings, allowing one run and was 3 for 4 at the plate. Rylan Littlejohn was 2 for 3 with two RBI and Eugene Miyata was 2 for 3 with two runs scored.
FOOTHILL 14, CANYON 4: The Knights were led by Andrew Parker, who pitched five innings allowing five hits and striking out five. Jack Mueller was 3 for 3 with a triple, two runs scored and two RBI, Tyler Hawkins was 1 for 2 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBI and Ezekiel Vargas was 1 for 3 with a double and three RBI.
VILLA PARK 8, BREA OLINDA 2: Zach Brown got the win, pitching six innings, allowing five hits and striking out eight. Gavin Grahovac was 1 for 2 with two runs scored, Brown had two RBI and Josh Santangelo was 1 for 2 with an RBI for the Spartans (5-1).
CREAN LUTHERAN 3, TRABUCO HILLS 1: Coach Jake Haney’s Saints finished the Newport Elks Tournament with a victory and went 2-2 in the tournament. Jake Mercurio, who pitfched the first four innings, got the victory. He allowed three hits, one run and struck out six. Mark Fedro was 2 for with an RBI and a stolen base and James Derflinger 1 for 3 with two RBI for the Saints (4-3).
CORONA DEL MAR 2, TUSTIN 1: Nick Salmon threw a complete game on the mound and offensively, double and had an RBI to lead the Sea Kings (5-4) to a victory in a non-league game.
LA HABRA 3, CHARTER OAK 1: Jared Day was the winning pitcher. He had three strikeouts and did not allow an earned run in six innings. Matt Viveros notched his second save. Spencer Carty was 3 for 3 with three RBI, a stolen base and a run scored; Bobby Brooks was 1 for 3 with an RBI and Andrew Gandara was 1 for 3.
