Newport Beach City Mayor Kevin Muldoon announced his endorsement for Orange County Senator Pat Bates in the new 5th Supervisor District.
“Pat Bates has my full support and endorsement for Orange County’s 5th District,” said Muldoon. “She is a staunch Republican, experienced problem-solver and proven vote-getter who has experience representing Orange County at the city, county and state level. I’m proud to give Pat my support because I know she will protect our quality of life, fight to improve our local economy and keep our community safe.”
Kevin Muldoon was a candidate in the June Primary and garnered over 27,000 votes. He was the top vote-getter among the challengers in both Newport Beach and Costa Mesa. Pat Bates was the top vote-getter overall among those challenging incumbent Katrina Foley, receiving over 34,000 votes. All told, the three Republicans challenging liberal incumbent Katrina Foley received over 58 percent of the total vote.
“I am honored and excited to have Kevin’s full support,” said Senator Bates. “I look forward to working with Kevin to advance common-sense conservative leadership that protects the quality of life we enjoy in this special part of Orange County.”
Pat Bates herself is a trailblazer in Orange County politics. She led the successful incorporation of Laguna Niguel, was a founder of the California Women’s Leadership Association, and served in leadership roles as a Supervisor, Assemblymember and Senator. Her endorsements include The Orange County Register newspaper and the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association.
