Let’s get together on Thursday, October 13 at 11:30 a.m., to celebrate the birth of the U.S. Navy at the Garden Grove Elks Lodge located at 11551 Trask Avenue, Garden Grove, CA 92843. It will also give us the opportunity to socialize a bit with old friends and new acquaintances.
Our speaker will be LTC John F. Hendrickson, USA (Ret), who will present his recollections of ‘Flying the CH-47 “Chinook” helicopter in Combat’. Interestingly, John started out in the Army as a LT in the Corps of Engineers. That is why John and your CO get along so well, I was CE too, but not crazy enough to fly helicopters. He served in Vietnam in 1969-70 with 101st Airborne Division (Air Mobile) in the Northern portion of RVN (I Corps). John ended up serving for a total of 22 years of active duty with many varied duty assignments. Retired from 20 years in the aerospace and defense industry, John is the current president of the Southern California Chapter of the Army Aviation Association, AAAA, and is a life member of the Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association, VHPA
Buffet meal service for $15.
Please contact Tim Brown at (562) 287-4846 or [email protected] to make reservations. We need to know by 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, the day before our lunch, whether you are going to attend so that we may inform service staff for set up.
The Elks Lodge has a “no mask” policy right now.
We look forward to seeing as many members and old friends as possible.
