The West Orange County Republican Women’s Federation (WOCRWF) held their monthly membership meeting Saturday, March 18. The WOCRWF meets monthly to celebrate Republican values, learn, and encourage participation in local politics.

In honor of women’s history month, the ladies hosted their annual costume contest. Attendees dressed as their favorite women in history including Suffragettes and Rosie the Riveters.

Guest speaker George Harbison, the author of “The Slaughter of Innocence: The Story of the Victims of Socialism,” shared with attendees the true definition of socialism and the lessons Americans can learn from the destruction under several Socialist regimes. Mr. Harbison is a member of the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation’s Speakers Bureau. He has delivered this lecture at over twenty college campuses and at several student conferences. After hearing historical accounts of socialism, the attendees observed a moment of silence for the nearly hundred million victims who have lost their lives under socialist reign.

The agenda also included an update on city happenings by Emily Hibard, Los Alamitos city Council member. The ladies also penned more than thirty thank you cards that will be distributed to local firefighters. This is part of their Caring for America program which takes the time recognize first responders, military personnel, and other important community groups for their service.

The meeting concluded with a crowd favorite, the 50/50 and raffle prizes. The money raised supports Turning Point USA and the Youth America’s Foundation which teaches students American Values through the Constitution, Declaration of Independence, and Bill of Rights.

The WOCRWF will host their next meeting on Saturday, April 22 meeting. An always themed and a delicious buffet lunch will be served.
