Classical musicians Aleksey Igudesman (violin) and Hyung-ki Joo (piano) return to the Carpenter Center on the campus of California State University, Long Beach, on Sunday, May 15 at 2 p.m., bringing their inventive humor, classical virtuosity, and pop culture references to their new theatrical show, “Play it Again.” Following in the footsteps of Victor Borge and Dudley Moore, Igudesman & Joo combine the music of the masters with comic feats to inspire audiences to explore and engage with the world of classical music.

In this afternoon’s musical choose-your-own adventure, the duo—who have performed at the Hollywood Bowl and Carnegie Hall—turn a traditional concert on its head, beginning their performance with an encore. The afternoon show marks the third time the duo have appeared on the Center’s stage. A finale to the Carpenter Center’s 2021-2022 season, Igudesman & Joo’s “Play it Again” is the last chance to catch a season performance at the Carpenter Center until September.
