The music world has lost one of the kindest gentlemen that ever existed. The Alarm frontman and founder, Mike Peters has passed away at the age of 66 after a 30-year battle with cancer.
The Welsh musical icon and charismatic frontman became known to us as the face of legendary ‘80s rock band, The Alarm. Peters gave a voice to powerful anthems “Sixty Eight Guns,” “Rain in the Summertime,” “Absolute Reality,” “Spirit of ’76,” “Sold Me Down the River,” “Rescue Me,” and “Strength,” and helped define alternative rock for five decades.

First diagnosed with lymphoma in 1995, Peters became a tireless global advocate for blood cancer patients.
His later diagnosis of chronic lymphocytic leukemia did not slow him down and he refused to give up, turning it into a mission to help others.
With his beloved wife Jules, Peters co-founded Love Hope Strength, a “music-driven cancer charity that revolutionized awareness and action around stem cell donation.”
The charity’s “Get on the List” campaigns, which were typically hosted at concerts, added more than 250,000 people to the global stem cell registry, helping secure “thousands of potential life-saving matches for patients worldwide.”

In 2024, just before embarking on a 50-date US tour and a stop at the Cruel World festival, Peters was diagnosed with Richter’s Syndrome, “an aggressive form of lymphoma,” and began extensive treatment which included a clinical trial and innovative therapy.
Unfortunately, the cancer progressed.

Through all of his cancer battles, Peters did not give up. He would write and record music through multiple relapses, and continued to use his platform to raise cancer awareness and funds to help others.
Peters is survived by his wife of 39 years and partner in purpose, Jules, and their sons, Dylan and Evan.

OC Music News has interviewed Peters multiple times and he was always kind, compassionate, patient, thoughtful, and entertaining.
He had a passion for life and truly believed in the healing power of music. We send our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and all who were inspired by him.
