Consumer advocate and former federal prosecutor Ashleigh Aitken, who is the Democratic Party endorsed candidate for Anaheim Mayor, released the following statement regarding the city’s payment of a $96 million fine to resolve the sale of Angel Stadium:
“A $96 million fine by the State isn’t a win for Anaheim taxpayers. It’s the result of a corrupt deal centered around a no-bid contract, which was fraught with valuation issues and negotiated in secret by Mayor Harry Sidhu. At the end of the day, the City of Anaheim is losing its most valuable asset and the taxpayers of our city are getting a bad deal.”
