Mater Dei High School’s football team captured its fourth CIF state crown Saturday night, defeating previously undefeated Serra 35-0 in front of a big crowd at Saddleback College.

Senior quarterback Elijah Brown had a big game, throwing for four touchdown passes for the Monarchs (13-1).

Brown threw two TD passes in first quarter and another in the second quarter to help the Monarchs build a 21-0 halftime lead.

The Monarchs offense and a stifling effort from the defense helped Mater Dei dominate the game.

The Monarchs moved ahead 28-0 in the third quarter on an 8-yard TD run by Jordon Davison. Mater Dei moved ahead 35-0 when Brown threw his fourth TD pass in the fourth quarter.

A running clock was utilized after that. Serra finished the season 12-1.
