On June 18, 2022, at approximately 10:20 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of Ocean Boulevard and Termino Avenue regarding an injury traffic collision between two vehicles which resulted in the death of a male adult.

Upon arrival, officers discovered Long Beach Fire Department (LBFD) personnel on scene and rendering aid to one of the drivers involved in the collision. The LBFD transported the driver to a local hospital where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 1998 Toyota Pick-Up truck was traveling westbound on Ocean Boulevard and was making a left turn southbound onto Termino Avenue. The truck driver failed to yield to an oncoming 2014 Toyota Corolla that was traveling eastbound on Ocean Boulevard, subsequently resulting in the collision.

The driver of the Toyota truck was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed his injuries. At this time, the decedent is only being identified as a 49-year-old male resident of the City of Compton. The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office will work to identify the decedent and notify the next of kin.

The driver of the Toyota Corolla, an adult resident of the City of Cerritos, remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. At this time, neither alcohol, drugs, nor distracted driving are believed to be factors in this collision for the driver.
