COSTA MESA, Calif. (Feb. 19, 2025) – The Costa Mesa Police Department (CMPD) is seeking to identify potential additional victims of a man arrested for s*xually assaulting two underage teen girls.

On Feb. 13, 2025, at approximately 7:00 p.m., CMPD detectives received information about an adult man having s*xual relationships with several juveniles. Officers located and spoke with two victims, and confirmed the information they had received was accurate.
Officers learned the suspect had been communicating with the victims via social media and would pick the victims up in his vehicle prior to committing the sexual acts.
During the subsequent investigation, CMPD detectives were able to identify the suspect as Peter Michael Mejia, 27, Redlands.
After an extensive search, detectives were able to locate Mejia in the City of Beaumont.
With the assistance of the Beaumont Police Department, detectives safely took Mejia into custody on Monday, Feb. 17, 2025. Mejia was arrested on multiple counts of l*wd acts with a minor and possession of child p*rnography.
Due to the arrestee’s access to young girls through social media, detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying potential additional victims Mejia might have had access to via any social platform.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone with pertinent information or who believes they are a victim of Mejia, please contact Detective Michael Luu at 714-754-5356 or Sergeant Jake Jacobi at 714-754-5352. The case was submitted to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration.
