Summer Harvest Food 4 Kids, a local non-profit founded by this year’s Seal Beach Christmas Parade grand marshall, Amy Payne, is presenting its Second Annual Poker Tournament hosted by fan-favorite Los Angeles Angel David Fletcher. The event will be held on Friday, January 20, 2023 at Old Ranch Country Club in Seal Beach, featuring a fun evening of poker play, food, and prizes, a VIP meet and greet with Fletcher, and a silent auction.

“I am thrilled to once again host the Summer Harvest Poker Tournament,” stated David Fletcher about the event. “Having grown up in this community, I know first-hand how important it is to give back to children and families in need, especially during these hard times.. I am proud to contribute to such a worthy charity and hope you will join us for a great event!”

Attendees who purchase “head table” VIP tickets will be able to start their play at the same table as David Fletcher during the tournament. There are also VIP tickets available that grant attendees access to a one hour exclusive meet and greet, autograph signing, and photo opportunity with David Fletcher before the tournament begins.

The first-place winner of the tournament will receive a custom jacket from TravisMathew and an on-field experience with David Fletcher at a Los Angeles Angels game during the 2023 season. Prizes will be awarded to the top five tournament finishers. The silent auction will feature one-of-a-kind sports memorabilia from local teams and many incredible food and entertainment items.

The event benefits Summer Harvest Food 4 Kids, a 501c3 non-profit that helps to feed families from:

  • Los Alamitos Unified School District
  • Cypress Elementary School District
  • and Fountain Valley Unified School District

Kids from these districts who qualify for free or reduced-cost meals during the school year do not receive assistance during the summer breaks.

Summer Harvest Food 4 Kids seeks to fill that gap, providing biweekly food distributions during the summer of fresh produce, dry goods, pantry staples, and recipes to families that are in need. In addition to the summer food program, Summer Harvest Food 4 Kids also provides food at a winter distribution to help address food insecurity for local families during the winter break.

During summer 2022, Summer Harvest provided over 60,000 pounds of fresh fruits, vegetables, and shelf stable foods to more than 1,250 families in our local community.

Amy Payne, Executive Director of Summer Harvest, said “Summer Harvest is thankful for our continued partnership with Los Angeles Angel David Fletcher. He genuinely cares about the community and is always willing to step up and help, including joining with us to get food into the hands of families at our annual winter food distribution. It is especially meaningful having him come back to volunteer in his hometown of Cypress.”

Summer Harvest is also seeking corporate sponsors for the event. All sponsorship opportunities will include opportunities for the company logo to be displayed on the Summer Harvest website through the summer, logo presence at the event, and VIP meet and greet access with David Fletcher before the tournament begins. Specific sponsorship levels include:

  • Royal Flush $5,000 – 9 VIP poker players and VIP event access
  • Four of a Kind $2,500 – 4 VIP poker players and VIP event access
  • Two Pair $1,200 – 2 VIP poker players and VIP event access

The goal for David Fletcher and Summer Harvest Food 4 Kids is to raise $55,000 to fund food distributions throughout all of 2023. Last year, the first annual event raised over $50,000 and made a huge difference in the lives of the food recipients.
