Long Beach Symphony, under the direction of Maestro Eckart Preu, is proud to announce its 2022-2023 Classical and Pops seasons and is looking forward to delighting southland audiences with these elevating, fun experiences.

The CLASSICAL Season opener on October 1, 2022 features the great Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony and concertmaster Roger Wilkie, shares his virtuosity in Mendelssohn’s only Violin Concerto.
On November 19, 2022, the expressive pianist Natasha Paremski is welcomed back to the Terrace Theater performing Rachmaninoff’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini with Tchaikovsky’s beautiful Swan Lake Suite and rousing 1812 Overture also on the program.
Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons on February 4, 2023 spotlights Long Beach Symphony violinists – Roger Wilkie, Agnes Gottschewski, Chloé Tardiff and Chyi-Yau Lee – each infusing their unique styles as they take turns leading the various seasons.
Orff’s Carmina Burana on March 11, 2023 will present The Long Beach Camerata Singers’ vocal forces and will be joined by the Silver-Garburg Piano Duo in the powerful, fan favorite.
The season culminates on June 3, 2023 with an all-American program spotlighting the brilliant pianist, Michelle Cann, in Florence Price’s Piano Concerto and culminating in Gershwin’s An American in Paris providing the perfect ending to a great season of music.
Music Director Eckart Preu adds, “While I absolutely love presenting the great masterworks, I am equally thrilled to introduce audiences to a few gems I’ve discovered over the years. I look forward to sharing the music of two living Mexican composers, Enrico Chapela and Ana Lara, Grammy winner Nan Schwartz, plus young Alabama native, Brian Nabors, whose piece “Pulse” celebrates nature’s rhythmic abundance and our deep connection to one another.”
The POPS Season provides a unique Southern California experience with audiences enjoying indoor picnicking while singing and dancing the night away inside the Long Beach Arena’s Pacific Ballroom. Opening on October 29, 2022 with Remember When Rock Was Young: The Elton John Tribute, starring Craig A. Meyer, this full evening of Sir Elton’s most beloved hits comes to life thrilling audiences across the nation as audiences sing and dance to the tunes of this Grammy, Tony, and Academy award winning, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame legend.
The annual Holiday Pops concert on December 17, 2022 celebrates the most wonderful time of the year with a festive evening of holiday favorites and sing-alongs led by the Long Beach Camerata Singers.
Arrival from Sweden: The Music of Abba is featured on February 25, 2023 with timeless hit songs like Dancing Queen, Mamma Mia, SOS, Waterloo, Fernando and many more performed by the biggest Abba show in the world!
BRAVO! Broadway is a night devoted to the best of Broadway. On March 25, 2023, vocalists Scarlett Strallen, LaKisha Jones and Hugh Panaro will be featuring West Side Story, My Fair Lady, Chicago, Hairspray, Rent, and Les Miserables, plus Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber’s greatest hits from Cats and Phantom of the Opera.
The Pops season ends on May 20, 2023 with A Night of Symphonic Rock Dance Party as thousands dance the night away to the greatest classic rock hits of all time featuring an all-star six-piece rock band with the Long Beach Symphony playing tunes by the Eagles, The Doors, Led Zeppelin, Scorpions, Starship, Journey and more!
