On April 25, 2022, at approximately 2:07 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 5100 block of Long Beach Boulevard regarding an assault with a deadly weapon call, which later resulted in the death of a 74-year-old male victim.

Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive male victim inside a residence and a female victim outside. Both victims had critical wounds to their necks. Officers rendered lifesaving aid to the victims until the arrival of the Long Beach Fire Department personnel, who then transported both victims to local hospitals.

Elder Abuse and Homicide detectives responded to the scene. Their preliminary investigation suggests a female adult suspect was involved in an altercation with victims. The altercation then escalated, resulting in the suspect strangling the victims. The suspect is the daughter of the male victim.

The suspect has been identified as Genesis Noemi Ochoa, a 30-year-old resident of Long Beach. On April 26, 2022, detectives from the Special Investigations Division arrested Noemi for attempted murder and elder abuse charges. She is currently in custody with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and is being held on $2,000,000 bail.

On May 6, 2022, the male victim, 74-year-old Juan Ochoa Rodriguez of Long Beach, succumbed to his injuries. The female victim is in stable condition and was discharged from the hospital.

Detectives will present the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office next week for filing consideration.
