On Feb. 1, 2023, at approximately 5:53 p.m., officers responded to the 700 block of Broadway Court, regarding a report of multiple gunshots heard in the area, which resulted in the death of a male adult.
Upon arrival, officers located a male adult victim suffering from gunshot wounds to his upper body. Officers rendered medical aid and attempted life saving measures until being relieved by Long Beach Fire Department personnel. The victim was subsequently transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Homicide Detectives responded to the scene to investigate the incident. Through their preliminary investigation, detectives determined that an unknown male suspect approached the victim as he was in the alley near the 700 block of Broadway Court. The suspect fired multiple gunshots toward the victim, striking him, which subsequently resulting in the victim’s death. The suspect then fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival.
The identity of the victim and notification to next of kin will be conducted by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner–Coroner’s Office.
Detectives do not believe the incident was random, however, the investigation to determine the motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
