Long Beach PD arrests suspect in murder of Kacy Lloyd

UPDATE 1/20/23:
On Jan. 19, 2023, detectives from the Special Investigations Division located and arrested Lee Edward Mooring Jr., a 37-year-old resident of Long Beach, for the August 21, 2022 murder of Kacy Lloyd, a 48-year-old resident of the City of Los Angeles.

Detectives located Mooring in the City of Long Beach near the 2000 block of Cedar Avenue and subsequently took him into custody. He was booked for one count of murder and is currently being held on $2,000,000 bail.

Detectives will present the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration later next week.

Detectives are still actively working to determine the motive for this incident and the investigation remains ongoing.

UPDATE 11/18/22:
On Nov. 17, 2022, detectives from the Special Investigations Division located and arrested Daven Trotter, a 27-year-old resident of Los Angeles, and Geneece Shallowhorn, a 26-year-old resident of Long Beach, for the Aug. 21, 2022 murder of Kacy Lloyd.

Detectives located Trotter in the City of Long Beach near the 500 block of East 64th Street and subsequently took him into custody. He was booked for one count of murder and is currently being held on $2,000,000 bail.

Detectives located Shallowhorn in the 200 block of East Bort Street and subsequently took her into custody. She was booked for one count of accessory to murder and is currently being held on $1,000,000 bail.

Detectives will present the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration.

Original News Release 8/22/22:
On Aug.21, 2022, at approximately 11:44 p.m., officers responded to the 6700 block of Harbor Avenue after at least one report of multiple gunshots heard in the area, and a person down in the street, which resulted in the death of a male adult.

Upon arrival, officers located a male adult victim suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived and determined the victim deceased at the scene.

Homicide Detectives responded to the scene to investigate the incident. Through their preliminary investigation, detectives determined that an unknown suspect approached the victim as he was standing near his parked vehicle and fired multiple gunshots toward him, which ultimately resulted in his death. The suspect then fled the scene prior to officer’s arrival.

At this time, no suspect information is available and the investigation to determine the motive for the shooting remains under investigation, however, detectives believe the motive to be gang-related.

The victim has been identified as Kacy Lloyd, a 48-year-old resident of the City of Los Angeles.
