On May 14, 2022 at approximately 9:42 a.m., officers responded to an injury traffic collision in the 1600 block of East Plymouth Street involving a vehicle and a pedestrian, which later resulted in the death of a male adult.
Upon arrival, officers discovered Long Beach Fire Department personnel were already on scene rendering aid to an adult male pedestrian who was subsequently transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
The preliminary investigation revealed a female adult driver was backing out of her driveway when she struck the pedestrian who was walking across her driveway as she was backing out.
The driver, who had a valid driver’s license, remained on the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
At this time, neither speed, distracted driving nor impairment are believed to be factors in the collision.
On May 15, 2022, at approximately 10 p.m., Collision Investigation Detectives were notified that the pedestrian had succumbed to his injuries at the hospital earlier that day.
The pedestrian has been identified as Song Srun, a 91-year-old resident of Long Beach.
