Rapper Lil Jon made his fitness competition debut at the world-famous Muscle Beach championship.
“Lil’ Jon trades the mic for muscle in his first-ever fitness competition at the 2025 Muscle Beach Championship,” a media release explained.
The Grammy-winning artist, whose real name is Jonathan H. Smith appeared in the men’s physique category.
“Yeah! It’s me for real,” he said in a video posted to bodybuilder Skylar Okerstrom-lang’s Instagram Stories during the competition to spectators who couldn’t believe their eyes. “It’s me!”
“Absolutely historic,” wrote personal trainer and nutritionist Jay Galvin on his Instagram Stories. “First artist to do this!”

Over the month of August, the 54-year-old posted various videos on Instagram putting in work at the gym. On Aug. 18, he posted a video of him working out shirtless to Outkast’s “B.O.B.” Sporting a more muscular look, he’s seen doing 15 pull-ups in a row while also doing work with 90-pound dumbbells.
“Looking good, family,” E-40 commented.
“Health is wealth getttt it,” commented rapper Somaya Reece.
Last year he opened up about his health journey while on the “Tamron Hall Show.” About 15 years ago, he started to take his health seriously after learning his driver had a triple bypass and he was a decade younger than the artist.
“That kind of shocked me and made me say, ‘You know what? I need to get healthy because the older I get, the harder it’s going to be to reverse those affects.”
Also in 2024, he ditched his go-to of crunk club beats and released a guided meditation album called “Total Meditation.”
The annual bodybuilding competition features bodybuilding, bikini figure, wellness and even couples.
