LBPD investigating murder at 900 block of Daisy Avenue

On Jan. 8, 2023, at approximately 9:54 a.m., officers responded to the 900 block of Daisy Avenue regarding a report of a hit shooting which resulted in the death of a male adult.

Upon arrival, officers located a male adult victim suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body. Officers rendered aid until being relieved by Long Beach Fire Department personnel who subsequently transported the victim to a local hospital where he ultimately succumbed to his injury.

Homicide Detectives responded to the scene to investigate the incident. Through their preliminary investigation, detectives determined that an unknown male suspect approached the victim as he was walking near the 900 block of Daisy Avenue and fired multiple gunshots toward the victim, ultimately resulting in his death. The suspect then fled the scene prior to officer’s arrival.

The victim has been identified as Jaevion Tasby, a 30-year-old, resident of the City of Long Beach.

At this time, the investigation to determine the motive for the shooting remains underway however the incident does not appear to be random.
