March 9, 2023
Counseling – 9:46 p.m. – 8500 block of Salisbury Ln. – The reporting party was reviewing surveillance and saw a neighbor on Dover stick a sign in front of his residence at 6 p.m.
Disturbance (Party) – 10:30 p.m. – 5600 block of Orangethorpe Ave. – The caller reported a loud party in an upstairs apartment. Party advised.
March 10, 2023
Theft by False Pretense – 12:01 p.m. – 8300 block of Walker St. – The reporting party wanted to rent property from a subject and sent $3100-$3200 to him. He then stated that the residence was no longer available and stopped answering messages. Report taken.
Burglary Report – 12:50 p.m. – 5800 block of Warwick Cir. – The residence was reportedly ransacked. Surveillance observed two male subjects in dark hoodies hopping the fence at 12:20 and then getting picked up in a silver SUV. Report taken.
March 11, 2023
Illegally Parked Vehicle – 9:31 a.m. – Bourbon/Decatur – A commercial truck was reportedly parked in the residential neighborhood for four days, and the reporting party was unable to seen oncoming traffic while exiting the residence. The vehicle was marked for 72 hours.
Assist Other Department – 6:27 p.m. – 7900 block of Rose St. – A resident returned home and found smoke inside the residence with the fire alarm sounding. There were no flames in the residence. The stove had been left on. Assisted.
March 12, 2023
Theft by False Pretense – 7:43 p.m. – 5000 block of La Palma Ave. – The caller reported a theft by false pretense that started on March 10. The reporting party’s photo was used for the subject’s artwork and the RP advised that there had been an exchange of money. The loss was $500 at this time. Report taken.
Brandishing a Weapon – 11:59 p.m. – 5400 block of La Palma Ave. – A homeless female subject was reportedly walking in the parking lot with a knife. Police contacted the subject and determined that the object was a plastic toy. The subject was field interviewed and sent on her way.
March 13, 2023
Transient – 6:19 p.m. – Centerpointe Dr. – The reporting party requested for the subject to leave the area. Police conducted a search of the subject, who was subsequently arrested for an outstanding bench warrant for failure to appear on a misdemeanor charge. The subject was later released on citation.
Municipal Code Violation – 7:00 p.m. – 5200 block of Los Encantos Cir. – A male subject was reportedly going door to door selling coupon books. The subject claimed he was a neighbor but provided a false address on “Los Luna.” Police were unable to locate the subject.
March 14, 2023
Counseling – 7:04 p.m. – 5200 block of Andrew Dr. – The reporting party requested counseling regarding getting their son into a shelter.
Keep the Peace – 7:27 p.m. – 5000 block of Alder Ln. – The caller requested police to keep the peace to obtain property from the residence. The reporting party was the restrained party of an emergency protection order that expired the day prior.
March 15, 2023
Assist Other Department – 7:19 p.m. – 8000 block of Bluebird Ln. – Police spoke to the homeowner who willingly took a plane flight with a daughter to the daughter’s residence in Michigan. The daughter stated that the mother was in healthy condition and had no concerns over her well-being in La Palma. The homeowner also had no concerns and stated that she was returning to her residence in a couple days.
Suspicious Subject – 8:12 p.m. – Walker/Conifer – A subject was reportedly loitering in the area of Conifer and stopping in front of the residence. Police were unable to locate the subject.
Suspicious Subject – 11:08 p.m. – 4900 block of La Palma Ave. – An employee requested that a subject be advised regarding trespassing. The subject reportedly frequented the business and the reporting party advised that he waits for her every night to get off work. There was no crime at this time. Police arrested a 35-year-old male subject for felony trespassing: refusing to leave private property. The subject was released on citation and left the property.
March 16, 2023
Traffic Collision – 3:46 p.m. – Moody/La Palma – Two vehicles, a Honda Pilot and a Cadillac Escalade, were involved in a possible DUI traffic collision. The Pilot driver appeared to be possibly intoxicated. Police conducted field sobriety tests and requested a blood tech. A 28-year-old male subject was arrested for DUI.
Suspicious Subject – 5:18 p.m. – 4500 block of Amberwood Ave. – One subject was asking about solar panels and a second subject was seen walking around the reporting party’s truck. Counseled.
