
In 2004, she founded Lion’s Heart, a national nonprofit empowering teens to build empathy through volunteering. What began as a single Orange County-based organization has grown to 203 chapters in 31 states, with approximately 20,000 teens contributing more than 2.3 million volunteer hours. More recently, Corwin co-produced the award-winning documentary “The OC Effect,” which explores how and why Orange County became the epicenter of the global surf and skate industry. It premiered at the Newport Beach Film Festival last October. And in between all of that, she trained and qualified for the national championships in Olympic weightlifting and earned a featured appearance on “The Katie Couric Show,” for a segment titled “Women Who Should Be Famous.”
What would you tell your younger self knowing what you know now?
Dive in sooner. Everything meaningful I’ve accomplished started with knowing nothing, and deciding to learn and do it anyway.
What advice do you have for people when they find themselves outside of their comfort zone?
Let go of the need to feel capable. Curiosity, courage, and hard work will carry you farther than confidence.
Are there moments in your career that have had a significant impact on who you are today?
Launching a nonprofit and a documentary with no roadmap taught me grit, patience, and the power of passion.
