Kick-off for Northwood-Woodbridge game moved up due to weather concerns

The start of the Saturday, Aug. 19 non-league football game between crosstown rivals Northwood and Woodbridge at University has been moved to 6 p.m., according to Woodbridge assistant athletic director Ryan Brucker.

Woodbridge plays its home games at University, The game was originally scheduled for 7 p.m.

A tropical storm from Hurricane Hilary is expected to bring rain either late Saturday night or Sunday, forcing the change.

“Due to uncertainty about the weather, we are changing the start time of tonight’s Woodbridge vs. Northwood football game to 6 p.m. Gates at the University stadium will open at 4:45 p.m.,” Woodbridge officials said in a statement.

Northwood is out to have another successful season under Coach JC Clarke. The Timberwolves have won two CIF titles in a row. Woodbridge was 5-6 overall under Coach Aaron Craver.

Northwood will be led by quarterback Eddie Ma, a transfer from Woodbridge, and Joseph Harper, the brother of former Northwood standout Adam Harper.

Foothill also has a game Saturday night playing Bishop Diego at Santa Barbara City College at 7 p.m. No changes have been announced for that game.
