CIF officials announced Saturday there will be nine divisional champions will be determined out of 263 entrants into the CIF Southern Section-Ford Girls Soccer Championship Playoffs, scheduled to open with first-round contests scheduled in all divisions for Wednesday, Feb. 12.
The single-elimination tournaments will conclude with championship finals matches at Veterans Stadium at Long Beach City College Saturday, March 1 or Fred Kelly Stadium in Orange Friday, Feb. 28 and Saturday, March 1.
Among the Orange County teams seeded in the top four of their divisions are Trinity League champion Santa Margarita which is third in the open division. The open division will use a pool play format.
In Division 1, the top four seeds are JSerra, Orange Lutheran, Newport Harbor and Los Alamitos. El Dorado is third in Division 2, Valencia No. 1 in Division 3, Katella is second and Costa Mesa fourth in Division 4 and Anaheim is second in Division 6.
