(NewsNation) — Actor Kevin Spacey admitted to “being too handsy” in the past, opened up about current housing struggles and teased that he’d heard from King Charles in a recent interview with Piers Morgan.
Spacey, a 64-year-old Oscar winner who was accused and then acquitted of sexual assault against four men, confessed to “touching someone sexually in a way that I didn’t know at the time they didn’t want.”
He was also acquitted in a 2022 lawsuit by “Star Trek: Discovery” actor Anthony Rapp.
In May 2024, another round of sexual assault allegations came out against the actor in the form of a two-part documentary that aired in the United Kingdom.
When challenged on what “pushing the boundaries” meant, Spacey clarified that he finds the word “grope” odd, saying: “I personally have caressed people, I have been gentle with people; that is the way that I am.”
The interview, published Tuesday, featured the actor’s first admission of any physical contact since accusations first arose.
He told Morgan he is “absolutely 150% prepared to take accountability for those things that I did and the mistakes that I made,” calling his behavior “bad, bad, bad.”
In a May 2024 exclusive on NewsNation’s “CUOMO,” Spacey shared similar sentiments: “I’m trying to show that I’ve listened. I’ve learned. I’ve got the memo. I feel very strongly that whatever mistakes I’ve made in my life, that I paid a price.”
The redemption he seeks has eluded him so far. Spacey broke down during the Morgan interview, admitting his home would soon be in foreclosure and he had no clue where he would live next.
“Because I can’t pay the bills that I owe,” he said.
Legal battles and loss of work had him contemplating bankruptcy, and he said there were “a couple of times when I thought I was going to file.”
Spacey also said he’d received a message of support from King Charles amid his legal battles.
Spacey clarified that he hadn’t heard directly from the monarch and “didn’t want to drag him into all of this” as he has a cancer diagnosis on his plate.
King Charles presented Spacey with his honorary CBE in 2010 for his services to drama and knighted the actor in 2016 when he received an honorary knighthood, the Daily Mail UK reported.
