The war of words continues between Drake and Kendrick Lamar.
On Tuesday morning, Lamar released “Euphoria,” a nearly six-and-a-half-minute diss track slamming the Canadian rapper.
Fans were alerted of the song when the Compton, California, native made a post to X, formerly Twitter, of the song on his YouTube channel.
“euphoria,” the post was succinctly captioned.
The graphic for the video is the definition of the word. It just so happens Drake, born Aubrey Drake Graham, is one of the executive producers of the HBO teen drama “Euphoria.”
The song starts slow and relaxed.
“Them superpowers gettin’ neutralized, I can only watch in silence. The famous actor we once knew is lookin’ paranoid, now it’s spiraling,” Lamar rhymes taking shots at the former “Degrassi: The Next Generation” star. “You’re moving just like a degenerate, heavy antic, it’s feelin’ distasteful.”
“Know you a master manipulator, and a habitual liar too. But don’t tell no lie ’bout me, and I won’t tell truths ’bout you,” echoing a threat he made on 2017’s “The Heart Part 4.”
Once the song hits the 57-second mark, the gloves come off.
He pokes fun at the OVO artist for spending a million dollars to own Shakur’s diamond-encrusted crown ring, saying he’d rather “double the wage” because Drake owning the ring could cause “‘Pac to turn in his grave.”
Lamar then addresses the beef between the two head-on.
“This ain’t been ’bout critics, not about gimmicks, not about who the greatest. It’s always been about love and hate, now let me say I’m the biggest hater,” he says before getting into what he dislikes about Drake. “I hate the way that you walk, the way that you talk. I hate the way that you dress I hate the way you sneak diss, if I catch flight, it’s gon’ be direct.”
It doesn’t stop there, Lamar then slams Drake’s parenting, accusing him of making up “fairytales” about his life and then some.
The song is in response to the “Hotline Bling” rapper’s two diss tracks, “Push Ups” and “Taylor Made Freestyle,” which he dropped 11 days ago.
“Push Ups” targeted Lamar along with rappers Rick Ross and Future and producer Metro Boomin. Hours later, Drake called out K. Dot directly with “Taylor Made Freestyle,” where he utilized AI to create fake verses from Tupac Shakur and Snoop Dogg. The song was then pulled from Instagram after Shakur’s estate threatened legal action.
Over a month ago, Lamar targeted Drake and his tour partner, rapper J. Cole, in the song “Like That,” from Future and Metro Boomin’s joint album “We Don’t Trust You.”
Cole, born Jermaine Lamarr Cole, retaliated with his song “7 Minute Drill.” He later publicly bowed out.
In “Euphoria,” Lamar accused Drake of attempting to issue a cease and desist order against the earlier diss.
Rapper Rick Ross has also jumped in on the beef against Drake by releasing a diss track of his own against called “Champagne Moments.”
The feud between the “6 God” and “Mr. Morale” can be traced back to Big Sean’s 2013 song “Control,” where Lamar called out Drake among other peers claiming he was the top person in the rap game.
So far, Drake hasn’t responded to the song.
