Irvine High School’s 6-4 junior standout Cooper Stearns achieved a personal milestone over the winter holiday, reaching the 1,000 point mark in his career during the Estancia Coast Classic.

“We are all proud of Cooper on achieving this 1,000 point milestone,” Irvine Coach Harry Meussner said Monday. “It is the result of his tireless work ethic, dedication, and competitive spirit.”

Stearns is averaging 21.5 points, 9.3 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.4 steals and one block. The Vaqueros’ center returned to the lineup after missing time due to a dislocated shoulder.

He also has a promising golf career.

Irvine (9-9) opens Pacific Coast League play Monday night at Sage Hill (7-11).
