(NEXSTAR) – Felicia Rashad introduced last night’s “In Memoriam” segment at the Emmy Awards, which honored dozens of TV legends — including her “Cosby Show” co-star Malcolm-Jamal Warner — who passed away since the last broadcast.
“Even though they may no longer be here with us, we can all smile knowing that their impact will remain. Knowing that their lasting impressions will continue to live on through story. Knowing that they touched our lives,” Rashad said, ahead of a touching segment that paid tribute to such icons as Teri Garr, David Lynch, Anne Burrell and George Wendt.
But as is often the case, several prominent actors and TV personalities were missing from the tribute, to the bewilderment of fans.
“I’m genuinely furious the #Emmys didn’t include Graham Green in their In Memoriam tribute,” one X user said of the prolific TV and film actor (“Northern Exposure,” “Longmire,” “Dances With Wolves”) who passed away in early September.
“How could the Emmys forget to mention my friend Dr. Danielle Spencer…?” actress Holly Robinson Peete wrote, in part, in response to the exclusion of the late “What’s Happening!!” cast member. “We will honor her, even if they didn’t.”
Other notable names missing from last night’s “In Memoriam” segment included wrester and reality TV star Hulk Hogan, “King of the Hill” actor Jonathan Joss, “Sopranos” actor Jerry Adler, horror icon Tony Todd, “Dennis the Menace” actor Jay North, “General Hospital” alum Leslie Charleson, and Lynne Marie Stewart of “Pee-wee’s Playhouse” and “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.”
“WTF,” one Reddit user wrote in reaction to Stewart’s exclusion from the TV segment. “She had an incredible career, her credits are amazing.”
Movie stars including Gene Hackman, Val Kilmer, Terence Stamp and film director Jeff Baena were also absent from the tribute, though it’s possible they were omitted to focus on actors with more TV credits to their names.
A representative for the Television Academy, which presents the Emmy Awards, was not immediately available to comment on how the names for the “In Memoriam” segment are chosen.
The TV Academy, however, does maintain an online “In Memoriam” database on its official website, which currently lists every one of the actors and artists that wasn’t honored in the televised segment.
