Goldenwest Street Bridge
Crews began the second phase of construction Goldenwest Street bridge in 2020. When the new portion of the bridge opens later this year, it will have eight vehicular lanes, new sidewalks and bike lanes.
The I-405 Improvement Project Team thanks the community for its patience during construction. We realize construction and related traffic can be frustrating, but soon we will deliver a new and improved bridge to your community!
Ward Street Bridge
Crews demolished the Ward Street bridge in 2021, and the bridge is anticipated to open later this year. The bridge will be improved with four vehicular lanes, new bike lanes and sidewalks.

NEW! Northbound (NB) I-405 Closure for Restriping
Northbound (NB) I-405 will close between Westminster Boulevard and Springdale Street to restripe freeway lanes.
The NB I-405 closure is anticipated as early as 11 p.m. Monday, Oct. 3, to 5 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4.

NEW! Northbound (NB) I-405 Closure for Ward Street Bridge Work
Northbound (NB) I-405 will close between Euclid Street/Ellis Avenue and Talbert Avenue to continue construction of the Ward Street bridge.
The NB I-405 closure is anticipated as early as 11 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, to 5 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 6.

NEW! Southbound (SB) I-405 Closure for Ward Street Bridge Work
Southbound (SB) I-405 will close between Talbert Avenue and Euclid Street/Ellis Avenue to continue construction of the Ward Street bridge.
The SB I-405 closure is anticipated as early as 11 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, to 5 a.m. Friday, Oct. 7.

COMING SOON! Brookhurst Street Bridge Concrete Pour
Crews will pour concrete for the new portion of the Brookhurst Street bridge over I-405 in early October.

NEW! Northbound (NB) SR-73/I-405 Connector to Close Nightly for Utility Work
The NB SR-73/I-405 connector will close nightly for utility work.
The nightly closures are anticipated as early as 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 3, to Thursday, Oct. 6, and again 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. Friday, Oct. 7
NEW! Lane Reductions on Euclid Street for Center Median Work
Crews will construct the center median on Euclid Street between Newhope Street and Mt. Washington Street.
This work will require intermittent lane reductions on Euclid between Talbert and I-405.
The lane reductions are anticipated as early as Monday, Oct. 3, to Friday, Oct. 14, on weekdays.
The 405 Community Outreach Team will provide updates in future alerts.
REMINDER! Northbound (NB) I-405 Loop On-Ramp from Harbor Boulevard Closed for Approximately Six Weeks
Crews closed the NB I-405 loop on-ramp from Harbor Boulevard as part of project improvements.
The ramp closed Monday, Sept. 12, and is expected to open after approximately six weeks.
REMINDER! Southbound (SB) I-405 Off-Ramp to Seal Beach Boulevard Closed for Approximately One Month
Crews closed the SB I-405 off-ramp to Seal Beach Boulevard as part of project improvements.
The ramp closed Sept. 16, and is expected to reopen after approximately one month.
REMINDER! Goldenwest Street/Sowell Avenue Closed for Approximately One Month
Crews closed Sowell Avenue at NB Goldenwest for approximately one month so crews can reconstruct the intersection to align with the new Goldenwest bridge.
Activities include concrete cutting and removal, grading, curb and gutter reconstruction, drainage and electrical work, and paving.
Sowell closed Monday, Sept. 12, and is expected to open after approximately one month.

Montecito Channel
REMINDER! Crews are relocating several utilities to continue widening the drainage channel adjacent to homes in the College Park West community.
Utility line relocation is ongoing, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays.
Block wall installation is anticipated to begin later this fall.
Crews may access the work zone intermittently along College Park Drive and from the WB SR-22 connector to mobilize equipment as early as 6 a.m., and some activities may occur at night from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. as needed.

North Gate Road
REMINDER! Crews closed North Gate Road to conduct sewer work.
Vehicles, bicyclists and pedestrians are being detoured to Golden Rain Road to enter and exit Leisure World.
North Gate is anticipated to open in mid-to-late October.

Almond Avenue
REMINDER! Crews will continue constructing the sound walls along northbound (NB) I-405, adjacent to Almond Avenue.
Block wall installation began in August and is anticipated to be completed in approximately one week.
Construction activities will continue 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays.
Crews may mobilize equipment as early as 6 a.m., and some activities may occur from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. as needed.

Bolsa Avenue
NEW! Crews will pour concrete for the new portion of the Bolsa Avenue bridge over I-405.
Equipment will be staged behind the existing work zone on each side of the freeway.
Construction activities will occur 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4.
Crews may mobilize equipment as early as 6 a.m., and some activities may occur from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. as needed.
