CHECK IT OUT! INSIDE THE 405 SERIES
We are taking you Inside the 405 Project with our new video series highlighting the progress we’ve made. Throughout this series, we’ll be diving into how the 405 project started, what’s coming up, all the different ways our team helps you get where you need to go, working with our first responder partners, talking to diverse communities along the 16-mile project area, looking at future travel options in the 405 Express Lanes and working with local businesses through our 405 Forward Program.

NOW OPEN! Southbound I-405 Off-Ramp to Bolsa Chica Road
The Southbound I-405 off-ramp to Bolsa Chica Road is now open.
UPDATE! New Features for Beach Boulevard
The northbound (NB) I-405 straight off-ramp to Beach Boulevard will have a new traffic signal! The ramp will also be updated with five lanes including two dedicated right-turn and two dedicated left-turn lanes, as well as a shared lane for both right and left-turn movements.
As part of the final design for the intersection, the NB I-405 loop off-ramp will be permanently eliminated.
This work will be done using a full Beach Boulevard closure between McFadden Avenue and Edinger Avenue.
Crews will close Beach Boulevard between McFadden Avenue and Center Avenue to activate the traffic signal for the NB I-405 off-ramp to Beach Boulevard and to perform restriping activities.
The closure is anticipated for 11 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, to 5 a.m. Thursday, March 31.
The permanent ramp closure of the NB loop off-ramp to Beach is also set for 11 p.m. Wednesday, March 30.

NEW! Northbound Euclid Street Closures for Drainage Installation
Crews are installing a drainage system on Euclid Street. This work requires northbound (NB) Euclid closures between the southbound freeway ramps and the I-405 bridge.
Nightly NB Euclid closures are scheduled 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Friday, March 25, through Thursday, March 31, on weeknights.

NEW! Daytime Ramp Closures and Lane Reductions for Westminster Boulevard Bridge Concrete Pour
Crews will close the northbound (NB) I-405 loop off-ramp to westbound (WB) Westminster Boulevard and the southbound (SB) loop off-ramp to eastbound Westminster during the day to pour concrete for the new portion of the Westminster bridge.
This work will also require WB Westminster to be reduced to one lane between Willow Lane and Springdale Street.
The closures are anticipated for 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 30.

NEW! Northbound and Southbound I-405 Closures to Install Girders for the Ward Street Bridge
Crews will install pre-cast concrete girders for the Ward bridge over I-405.
The girders are the main horizontal support beams, known as the superstructure, for the new bridge. They are installed across the bridge’s substructure, the abutments and center columns.
This work will require a NB I-405 closure between the NB I-405 off-ramp to Euclid Street and the NB I-405 loop on-ramp from Brookhurst Street and a SB I-405 closure between the SB I-405 off-ramp to Warner Avenue and the SB I-405 on-ramp from Euclid/Ellis Avenue.
The closures are anticipated for:
- Night One: As early as 10:30 p.m. Friday, April 1, to 7:30 a.m. Saturday, April 2 – NB I-405 will be closed.
- Night Two: As early as 11 p.m. Saturday, April 2, to 8 a.m. Sunday, April 3 – SB I-405 will be closed.
Some ramps may also be closed.

COMING SOON! Northbound (NB) I-405 Loop On-Ramp from Seal Beach Boulevard to Close for Approximately One Month
Crews will close the NB I-405 loop on-ramp from Seal Beach Boulevard for approximately one month to accommodate the freeway widening. The closure is anticipated in late April.
The 405 Community Outreach Team will provide detailed schedule, closure and detour information in future alerts.
COMING SOON! Southbound (SB) I-405 Off-Ramp to Fairview Road to Close for Approximately One Month
Crews will close the SB I-405 off-ramp to Fairview Road for approximately one month to accommodate the freeway widening. The closure is anticipated for mid-April.

Crews will close the NB I-405 on-ramp from Fairview Road for approximately one month to accommodate the freeway widening. The closure is anticipated for mid-April.

REMINDER! Southbound (SB) I-405 Goldenwest Street On-Ramp and Bolsa Avenue Off-Ramp Closed
Crews closed the SB I-405 loop off-ramp to Bolsa Avenue and the SB I-405 loop on-ramp from Goldenwest Street to accommodate the freeway widening.
The SB I-405 loop off-ramp to Bolsa closed on Saturday, March 12, and is anticipated to reopen in approximately two months.
The SB I-405 loop on-ramp from Goldenwest closed on Saturday, March 12, and is anticipated to reopen in approximately four months.
REMINDER! Northbound (NB) I-405 Closures to Install Falsework for the Warner Avenue Bridge
Crews are installing falsework for the Warner Avenue bridge over I-405 using freeway lane reductions.
This work requires nightly NB I-405 closures between the NB I-405 off-ramp to Euclid Street and the NB I-405 loop on-ramp from Magnolia Street.
Nightly NB I-405 closures are ongoing Monday through Friday. Closures will be scheduled 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Thursdays, and 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Fridays.
UPDATE! Northbound (NB) Harbor Boulevard Closures for Column Work Postponed
The closures that were scheduled to work on columns at Harbor were postponed to a later date.
The 405 Community Outreach Team will provide an update when the closures are rescheduled.
REMINDER! Southbound Loop On-Ramp from Brookhurst Street Closed for Approximately Six Weeks
Crews closed the SB I-405 loop on-ramp from Brookhurst Street closed on Monday, March 14, to accommodate the freeway widening.
The ramp is anticipated to reopen after approximately six weeks.
REMINDER! Northbound I-405 Warner Avenue On- and Off-Ramps Closed for Approximately 45 Days
Crews closed the NB I-405 on-ramp from Warner Avenue and the NB I-405 loop off-ramp to Warner on Wednesday, Feb. 23, to accommodate the freeway widening.
The ramp is anticipated to reopen after approximately three more weeks.
REMINDER! Southbound (SB) I-405 Closures for SB I-405/SR-73 Connector to Continue
Crews will close SB I-405 between the SB I-405 off-ramp to Harbor Boulevard and the SB I-405 on-ramp from Bristol Street nightly to install the falsework for the SB I-405/SR-73 connector bridge.
The nightly SB I-405 closures are ongoing 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. through Saturday, March 31. Closures are set for Mondays to Thursdays from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. and Fridays and Saturdays, as needed, from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.
NB I-405 closures are anticipated to begin are anticipated to begin as early as Wednesday, March 30.
REMINDER! Westbound (WB) SR-22 On-Ramp from Old Ranch Parkway Closure
Crews closed the Old Ranch Parkway on-ramp to WB SR-22 on April 13, 2021.
The ramp is anticipated to reopen in spring 2022.

North Gate Road
NEW! Crews are installing piles for the foundation of the sound wall along southbound I-405, adjacent to North Gate Road.
Pile installation will continue as early as Thursday,
March 31, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays and Saturdays, as needed for approximately two weeks.
Crews may mobilize equipment as early as 6 a.m., and some activities may occur from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. as needed.
The 405 Community Outreach Team will provide schedule updates in future alerts.

Almond Avenue
REMINDER! Crews are constructing the sound walls along northbound I-405, adjacent to Almond Avenue. The block portion of the wall is anticipated to start construction in spring 2022.
Crews may mobilize equipment as early as 6 a.m., and some activities may occur from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. as needed.
The 405 Community Outreach Team will provide schedule updates in future alerts.

Springdale Street
REMINDER! Crews will begin constructing a temporary traffic signal at the Westminster Boulevard/Springdale Street intersection as part of the bridges’ reconstruction.
Activities include installing temporary wooden poles, concrete removal and restoration, permanent pole foundation work, as well as electrical work. After the temporary signal is complete, crews will begin construction of the permanent traffic signal.
Construction of the temporary signal is anticipated to begin as early as Monday, March 28, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays and Saturdays, as needed for approximately three months.
This work will also include intermittent nighttime lane reductions on Springdale and Westminster.
Crews may mobilize equipment as early as 6 a.m., and some activities may occur from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. as needed.

Bolsa Avenue
REMINDER! Crews are constructing the sound wall along southbound (SB) I-405, between the Bolsa Avenue bridge and the railroad.
Activities include soil backfill and compaction, placing concrete forms, and pouring concrete.
Construction is ongoing, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays and Saturdays, as needed for approximately one week.
This work will also include intermittent nighttime lane reductions on SB I-405, between Bolsa Avenue and McFadden Avenue.
Crews may mobilize equipment as early as 6 a.m., and some activities may occur from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. as needed.

Newland Street
REMINDER! Crews are demolishing the concrete barrier and columns from the old Newland Street bridge in the center median of the freeway.
The work is ongoing, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. for approximately one more week on weekdays.
Intermittent nighttime lane reductions on I-405 are also anticipated for this work.
Crews may mobilize equipment as early as 6 a.m., and some activities may occur from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. as needed.

Heil Avenue
REMINDER! Crews will install piles for the foundation of a sound wall along southbound (SB) I-405, adjacent to homes that are near the Heil Avenue pedestrian bridge.
The foundation consists of 42 cast-in-drilled-hole (CIDH) piles. Crews will use an auger to drill large holes, install forms and steel cages and pour concrete into the holes to form the piles.
Following these activities, crews will begin constructing the footing, placing rebar, and pouring concrete to construct the wall.
The pile installation is ongoing, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Friday, March 25.
Crews may mobilize equipment as early as 6 a.m., and some activities may occur from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. as needed.

Brookhurst Street
REMINDER! Crews are installing piles for the foundation of the Brookhurst Street bridge over I-405. 132 piles will be used.
Pile Installation is ongoing 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and continue on weekdays and Saturdays if needed for approximately one month.
Crews may mobilize equipment as early as 6 a.m., and some activities may occur from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. as needed.

I-405/SR-73 HOV Connector
REMINDER! Crews are working on the foundation of the southbound (SB) I-405/SR-73 HOV connector bridge. The foundation consists of 8 cast-in-drilled hole (CIDH) and 35 steel pipe piles.
The CIDH activity includes installing large-diameter casings approximately 200 feet into the ground.
The steel pipe piles will be driven into the soil until reaching a hard layer of earth beneath the structure foundation.
Pile installation activities are ongoing and will continue 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays and weekends, as needed, through Spring 2022.
Daytime and nighttime lane reductions on SB I-405, between SR-73 and Bear Street are anticipated to support the work.
Crews may mobilize equipment as early as 6 a.m., and some activities may occur from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. as needed.
