NEW! Southbound (SB) I-405 Closure TONIGHT for Restriping

Southbound (SB) I-405 will close between the SB I-405 off-ramp to Westminster Mall Road/Goldenwest Street to the SB I-405 on-ramp from Center Avenue/Beach Boulevard to restripe freeway lanes.

The SB I-405 closure is anticipated as early as 11 p.m. TONIGHT, Jan. 6, to 6 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7.

NEW! Northbound (NB) I-405 Closures to Install Traffic Monitors

Northbound I-405 will close between the NB I-405 off-ramp to Valley View Street and the NB I-405/Westbound SR-22 on-ramp from Valley View Street to install traffic monitors.

The nightly NB I-405 closures are anticipated as early as 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday, Jan. 9, to Wednesday, Jan. 11.

Additionally, NB I-405 will close between the NB I-405 off-ramp to Seal Beach Boulevard and the SB I-605/NB I-405 connector to install traffic monitors.

The NB I-405 closures are anticipated as early as 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, and 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. Friday, Jan. 13.

The SB I-405 closures are anticipated as early as 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday, Jan. 9, and Tuesday, Jan. 10.

Additionally, SB I-405 will close between the SB I-405 off-ramp to Seal Beach Boulevard and the SB I-405 on-ramp from Bolsa Chica Road to install traffic monitors.

The nightly SB I-405 closures are anticipated as early as 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, Thursday, Jan. 12, and 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. Friday, Jan. 13.

UPDATE! Northbound (NB) I-405 Closures for SR-73/I-405 Connector Falsework Removal

Northbound (NB) I-405 will close between the NB I-405 off-ramp to South Coast Drive and the NB I-405 on-ramp from Fairview Road to remove falsework from the SR-73/I-405 Express Lanes connector.

The nightly NB I-405 closures are anticipated as early as 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday, Jan. 9, to Thursday, Jan. 12, and 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. Friday, Jan. 13.

Southbound (SB) I-405 will close between the SB I-405 off-ramp to Beach Boulevard and the SB I-405 on-ramp from Magnolia Street to install falsework for the Newland Street bridge.

The nightly SB I-405 closures are anticipated as early as 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday, Jan. 9, to Thursday, Jan. 12, and 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. Friday, Jan. 13.

NB and SB I-405 closures for Newland falsework installation are not planned concurrently. One direction will be closed at a time. Closures will be scheduled based on progress of work.

UPDATE! Edinger Avenue Lane Reductions for Utility Work

Edinger Avenue will be reduced to one lane in each directionbetween Maybrook Street and I-405 for water meter installation.

The daytime lane reductions are anticipated as early as 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Jan. 9, to Friday, Jan. 13. The closure will be removed after each shift.

REMINDER! Southbound (SB) Euclid Street Closures for Bridge Work

Southbound (SB) Euclid Street will close between the I-405 bridge and the SB freeway ramps for bridge work.

The SB Euclid closures are anticipated as early as 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Friday, Jan. 13, and Friday, Jan. 20.

Construction Activities

Montecito Channel

REMINDER! Crews will continue construction activities as part of the drainage channel widening.

Activities include:

  • Soil backfill, concrete paving, and installing rock and stone along the channel;
  • Final paving of the SB I-405/WB SR-22 connector; and
  • Sound wall reconstruction.

Soil backfill, concrete paving, and rock/stone installation is anticipated to begin in mid 2023.

Final paving of the SB I-405/WB SR-22 connector is ongoing and anticipated to continue through early 2023.

Sound wall reconstruction is anticipated for early 2023.

Crews may access the work zone intermittently along College Park Drive and from the WB SR-22 connector to mobilize equipment as early as 6 a.m., and some activities may occur at night from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. as needed.

North Gate Road

REMINDER! Crews began removing the sound blankets from the temporary fencing along North Gate Road. 

Next week, crews also began removing fencing, k-rail, and will begin site maintenance work.

Activities are ongoing through Friday, Jan. 6, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

This work will require temporary lane reductions on North Gate. Signs and cones will be in place during work hours, and a flagger will be on site to control traffic, as needed.

Crews may mobilize equipment as early as 6 a.m., and some activities may occur from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. as needed.

Crews will begin installation of a drainage ditch as well as water meter and electrical services in early to mid-2023. It is anticipated that this work will take place within the existing work zone.

Springdale Street 

REMINDER! Crews will continue reconstructing the sidewalk on the southwest corner of Westminster Boulevard/Springdale Street. Activities include curb, gutter and electrical work.

Pedestrian access will be closed on the southwest corner during construction and a detour will be in place.

Construction activities are anticipated to continue 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. for approximately one more week, on weekdays and Saturdays as needed.

Crews may mobilize equipment as early as 6 a.m., and some activities may occur from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. as needed.

McFadden Avenue

REMINDER! Crews are landscaping and installing irrigation on the McFadden Avenue bridge. This work will require intermittent lane reductions, between Gothard Street and Sugar Drive, for approximately five more months.

Activities are anticipated to continue 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.,on weekdays.

Crews may mobilize equipment as early as 6 a.m., and some activities may occur from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. as needed.

Beach Boulevard

REMINDER! Crews are installing the permanent traffic signals at the Beach Boulevard and Edinger Avenue intersection. Activities include electrical work, installing traffic signals, as well as removing and restoring asphalt and concrete.

Construction activities are anticipated to continue, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. for approximately one more week, on weekdays and Saturdays as needed.

This work will require extended outside lane closures on eastbound Edinger at Beach, as well as on NB Beach at Edinger. The closures will be in place for the full duration.

Crews may mobilize equipment as early as 6 a.m., and some activities may occur from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. as needed.

Moon Park

REMINDER! Crews are conducting maintenance and repair work for the retaining wall along southbound (SB) I-405, adjacent to Moon Park and homes on Nevada Avenue.

Work is being done from the freeway and on the Moon Park and residential side of the retaining wall.

One outside lane on SB I-405 and along the SB I-405 on-ramp from Euclid Street, will be reduced to place k-rail.

Activities are ongoing, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. for approximately one month, on weekdays.

The lane reduction on SB I-405 is anticipated to begin as early as Monday, Jan. 9.

Crews may mobilize equipment as early as 6 a.m., and some activities may occur from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. as needed.
