The recently renovated Hyatt Regency Irvine has won a AAA Four Diamond designation, making it the city’s second Four Diamond hotel after Marriott Irvine Spectrum made the list in 2022.

It is the first time the property, most previously known as Hotel Irvine and owned by the Irvine Company, has earned the recognition.

To qualify, hotels and restaurants must pass an evaluation that includes unannounced, in-person visits by AAA’s inspectors and are re-evaluated annually. There are now 19 Four Diamond hotels in Orange County including the Disneyland Hotel, JW Marriott Anaheim Resort and Avenue of the Arts Costa Mesa as of 2025.

Hyatt Hotels Corp. (NYSE: H) brought the 516-room hotel back online after acquiring it for $135 million, or $250,000 per key, in 2022. The 14-story property wrapped up its $55 million renovation in 2024.

“Earning the AAA Four Diamond designation is a proud moment for our entire team and a powerful validation of the $55M transformation we’ve brought to life at Hyatt Regency Irvine,” Area General Manager Sid Ramani said in a statement.

Hyatt Regency Irvine is Orange County’s ninth largest hotel by room count.
