On Thursday, January 19, 2023, at approximately 9:00 a.m., the Huntington Beach Police Department (HBPD) responded to a traffic collision on Beach Boulevard and Knoxville Avenue involving a white Toyota Corolla and a black Porsche Panamera.
Upon arrival, officers located both vehicles. The driver of the Corolla, an 80-year-old male from Huntington Beach, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Panamera, a 28-year-old male from Newport Beach, remained at the scene and fully cooperated with officers. It does not appear that drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision.
Based on the preliminary investigation, the Corolla was stopped in a private driveway on the east side of Beach Boulevard. As the Corolla entered traffic and proceeded west across Beach Boulevard, it was struck by the Panamera, which was traveling northbound on Beach Boulevard in the #1 lane.
The collision investigation is ongoing and being handled by the HBPD Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team (MAIT). Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or the events leading up to it is encouraged to contact HBPD Traffic Investigator J. Rounds at (714) 536-5666.
