Huntington Beach Police Department makes arrest for murder in relation to the December 5, 2022, homicide

On Saturday, December 17, 2022, the Huntington Beach Police Department (HBPD) arrested 33-year-old Tyrell Avion Lee of Temecula for the murder of 31-year-old Jimmy Sengpaseuth of Los Angeles.

Since December 5, 2022, Detectives from the Huntington Beach Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons Unit have tirelessly worked to identify and arrest the suspect. Today, Detectives located S-Lee in the City of Moreno Valley and placed him under arrest. He was transported and booked at the Huntington Beach Police Department’s jail.

The original facts and circumstances surrounding the incident are as follows: On Monday, December 5, 2022, at approximately 8:00 p.m., the Huntington Beach Police Department (HBPD) responded to reports of possible shots fired on the 5200 block of Tasman Drive.

On arrival, officers located an unresponsive adult male with a gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Orange County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased victim after confirming the victim’s identity and notifying the next of kin.

The suspect is unidentified and remains at large. The investigation into motive and circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation; however, during the preliminary investigation, detectives have reason to believe there is no threat to the public and that this was an isolated incident.
