IRVINE, Calif. [January 20, 2025] – Hoag Orthopedic Institute (HOI), one of the largest providers of orthopedic care in the nation, has received the 2025 Women’s Choice Award for program excellence in orthopedics, patient experience and outpatient experience.

“HOI is deeply honored to receive the Women’s Choice Award for the first time,” said Kim Mikes, MBA, RN, CEO of HOI. “Our long-standing national ranking as a leader in the delivery of high-quality musculoskeletal health care is a testament to our dedicated clinical staff and team members who provide exceptional orthopedic care to the communities we serve.”

The award recognizes HOI as a hospital that has demonstrated the highest level of quality care to its patients. HOI ranks in the top 1% of orthopedic hospitals, in the top 6% for patient experience, and received an equally strong rating for its outpatient experience, with a special focus on the female experience.

“The Women’s Choice Award improves transparency in health care, and their rankings will help women who need musculoskeletal medical services make informed decisions about their care,” said Steven Barnett, M.D., HOI’s Chief Medical Officer.

The Women’s Choice Award identifies America’s best hospitals and health care facilities across the United States. Awards are based on data from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) patient satisfaction survey results, and the American Hospital Directory. The Women’s Choice Award was founded by Delia Passi, former publisher of Working Mother magazine, who was determined to empower women to make smarter health care choices.

HOI, the highest-volume provider of joint replacements in the Western United States, has received consistent recognition from various publications and health care organizations for its patient-focused services since opening in 2010. The institute has topped the U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals list in 2023-2024, 2022–2023, 2021–2022, 2020–2021, 2019–2020, 2018–2019, 2017–2018, 2013–2014 and 2012–2013.
