The Ryan Lemmon Invitational got under way Saturday at the Great Park. (PHOTO: Tim Burt, OC Sports Zone).
WOODBRIDGE 6, WOODCROSS, UTAH 3: The Warriors (11-5) erupted for six runs in the third inning to capture a victory at the Great Park Saturday. Kyle Underwood pitched 3 1/3 innings, allowing two hits and struck out seven and was also 1 for 3 with a double and a run scored. Blake Gramlich earned the save. Vincent DeMarco was 1 for 3 with a double and two RBI and Nolan Stottlemyer was 1 for 1 with a sacrifice fly and two stolen bases.
VILLA PARK 8, LAGUNA BEACH 4: Val Lopez (1-0) earned the win for the Spartans. Jake Nobles was 3 for 4 with three RBI, Shawn Romero was 2 for 4 with two runs scored, Dom Gutierrez was 2 for 2 with two runs scored and an RBI and Nate Lewis was 1 for 3 with a run scored and an RBI to lead Villa Park.
LA SERNA 4, IRVINE 3: Irvine came up short despite outhitting La Serna 7-6. Evan Tamayo started for Irvine on the mound. Ethan Kim, Jason Alderson and Cole Riedel came on in relief to shutout La Serna the rest of the way. Smith Spivey and Jack Dressendorfer led Irvine with two hits each.
VIEWMONT, UTAH 1, CREAN LUTHERAN 0 (8 innings): Viewmont pushed across a run in the top of the eighth and held off a two-out bases loaded threat by Crean Lutheran to win Saturday at the Great Park Stadium.
