The City of Garden Grove is excited to invite homeowners to start sprucing up their home’s exterior and gardens in preparation of a new home beautification recognition program coming next month called Garden Grove Gems. The virtual program launches on Monday, April 11 with a 3-week home nomination period, followed by online voting from May 9 through May 13. Winning homes will receive citywide recognition with homeowners being honored by the Garden Grove City Council and invited to an upcoming awards reception.

“This new program brings back a long-standing City tradition of recognizing Garden Grove homeowners for their deep pride of ownership and amazing efforts in maintaining gorgeous homes and gardens,” said Garden Grove Mayor Steve Jones.
For over 40 years, the City held an annual home beautification program that was paused in recent years to re-introduce a new program based on a virtual format.

From Monday, April 11 through Friday, April 29, Garden Grove homeowners can self-nominate their homes by completing an online application and submitting a recent, unaltered photo of their house’s exterior. From Monday, May 9 through Friday, May 13, the public can vote online for their favorite home from each of the City’s six districts.

Nominations and voting will take place via the Garden Grove Gems City webpage at www.ggcity.org/gems.

The home with the highest number of votes, along with a second-place runner up, will be determined for each district. All winners will be announced during the week of May 16, 2022 through the City’s website, social media platforms, and local media.
