Over the last two weeks, police detectives were investigating a string of armed robberies, according to the Garden Grove Police Department.
Detectives learned through video surveillance that all five cases had similar circumstances and suspect description.
In addition, GGPD detectives contacted surrounding agencies to see if they had any robberies with circumstances similar to ours. There were 3 additional similar cases in Orange County, to make a total of eight robbery cases.
Garden Grove police detectives were able to locate a possible suspect based on the information they gathered from these cases.
Detectives conducted surveillance and as the suspect attempted to leave a motel in the city, he was detained without incident.
A subsequent investigation led detectives to find evidence from the robberies and the possible weapon used.
The suspect was identified as David Zamarripa, and he was later booked in to Orange County Jail.
GGPD detectives are asking anyone with additional information or possible additional victims to contact the Detective Bureau at (714)741-5800.
