The most wonderful time of the year is finally here and nonprofit community health center, Families Together of Orange County, is dedicated to ensuring a joyous holiday season for the whole community with the largest toy giveaway in Orange County. The organization is continuing its tradition of giving away 20,000 toys to underprivileged children at the 18th Annual Christmas Together event taking place on Sunday December 18th.
Last year, the event saw tremendous growth, going from giving away 6,000 toys in 2020 to giving away 20,000 toys in 2021 and taking over an entire parking lot at the Honda Center. This year, the event will take place at the Anaheim Convention Center, and the organization is preparing to give away another 20,000 toys. Families Together will also be giving away Christmas hams and Christmas dinners to attendees.
Christmas Together is an all-day event that consists of many activities for all ages to enjoy, including games, entertainment, food, a visit from Santa Claus and more – all completely free of charge to attendees, which is primarily funded by Families Together. The event will also feature appearances from special guests including elected officials such as Congressman Lou Correa, council members from the City of Anaheim, and more.
Registration for the event opened on October 5. Spots quickly filled up as registration reached capacity on November 18 – a little over a month after it opened. With over 30,000 expected attendees, planning the event has been an enormous venture. For CEO of Families Together, Alexander Rossel, pulling from past experience and ensuring each event is better than the last is very important:
“Last year, our Christmas Together event saw exponential growth, and we are honored to be able to give back to the community on such a large scale again. Our dedication to the community is what drives us to keep improving, and we are making sure that this year’s Christmas Together event is the best one yet. We’re especially thankful to our partners including Costco, Northgate Gonzalez Market and the Anaheim Convention Center for granting us the space that we need to really make a difference this holiday season.”
Christmas Together registration was open to the community and registration has reached capacity for the event. Only registered attendees will be allowed into the venue to partake in the event and receive toys.
