Fran Drescher receives Hollywood Walk of Fame star

Fran Drescher has style, she has flair and now she’s forever cemented in Hollywood history.

“The Nanny” actress received the 2,822nd star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Tuesday afternoon. Her star is in the Motion Pictures category.

The former SAG-AFTRA president accepted the honor while decked out in a form-fitting leopard print dress. Her friend, “Abbott Elementary” actress Lisa Ann Walter, followed suit by donning a similar ensemble.

Walter served as one of the speakers of the ceremony alongside Drescher’s “Nanny” costars, known as the “Sheffield girls,” actresses Nicholle Tom and Madeline Zima.

Other guests included Ray Abruzzo, Frances Fisher, Joely Fisher, Shari Belafonte, Donna Dixon and more.

“I should not be surprised Fran wore what she’s wearing because I wear this in honor of you,” she explained.

Walter then described the many “funny girls” in television history, starting with Lucille Ball as “the queen.” With each era of television, she named different actresses like Carol Burnett, Mary Tyler Moore and the cast of “The Golden Girls.”

“In the ’90s, the funny friend merged with the gorgeous girl lead and an icon was born. Fran Drescher as ‘The Nanny.'”

She went on to describe Drescher’s “star quality,” which went beyond acting to writing and activism.

Zima noted that while the day was already huge for Drescher, it was even bigger because it was also her birthday.

“Only she would figure out how to have Hollywood give her a present,” she joked.

To top it off, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce declared Sept. 30 to be Fran Drescher Day.

Drescher’s star is located on Hollywood Boulevard between Cherokee and Whitley Avenues.
