Fees Waived for All during Amnesty Month
ANAHEIM, Calif. ( August 26, 2024) – The Anaheim Public Library continues to eliminate barriers that prevent equitable access to resources and services. From Sep. 1 – 30, APL celebrates Library Card Sign-Up Month with Amnesty Month.
During this month, all library account fees will be waived, offering a unique opportunity for community members to clear their accounts and rediscover the invaluable resources available at their local library.
Amnesty Month is the first in Anaheim Library’s history designed to encourage library patrons to return and reconnect with the library without the burden of late fees. It’s also a perfect time for new and returning visitors to explore the library’s vast array of services and programs, from books and digital resources to educational workshops and cultural events.
Key Details of Amnesty Month:
- Fee Waiver Period: September 1 – September 30, 2024
- What’s Covered: All overdue fees and fines will be waived. STEAM kit charges are excluded.
- How to Participate: Return to the Anaheim Public Library and its branches, and all associated fees will be cleared from your account. No additional action is required.
“We’re excited to offer Amnesty Month as a way to foster a welcoming and supportive environment for all members of our community,” said Audrey Lujan, City Librarian of the Anaheim Public Library. “Libraries are a vital resource for learning and enrichment, and we hope this initiative will help remove barriers and encourage even more people to engage with everything the library has to offer.”
In addition to fee waivers, Anaheim Library is now fine-free. Patrons can enjoy checking out materials without the worry of overdue fines. For more information on Amnesty Month, please visit Anaheim.net/Amnesty.
