Southern California is about to feel “The Fury of the Aquabats!”
Everyone’s favorite ska superheroes have a busy summer ahead of them as they just announced The Bats! Kats & Rats Tour, kicking off June 16th in Asheville, NC.
The stacked lineup will feature The Aquabats, of course, along with psychobilly legends, The Koffin Kats, and former Black Flag lead singer, Mike Vallely’s band, Mike V & The Rats. The tour will conclude August 9th in Kansas City.
However, before the summer gets here, The Aquabats will be returning to their stomping grounds of Southern California, where they and ska bands alike have always been beloved. The band announced a headlining show at The Glass House in Pomona on May 17th with supporting acts Bite Me Bambi and The Bar Stool Preachers.
The Aquabats were formed not far from Pomona, in Huntington Beach in 1994. Their debut album, (ironically and comically titled) “The Return of The Aquabats” immediately connected with fans with their ridiculous and often-time hilarious lyrics about pop culture and science fiction, battling unusual villains.
But, it would be their follow-up album, “The Fury of The Aquabats!” in 1997 (featuring a pre-blink-182 Travis Barker) that really launched them into radio and MTV darlings, helped with the hit single, “Super Rad!”

Since then, they have continued to release great music (most recently last year’s “Finally!”), play shows the world over, and even starring in their own Daytime Emmy-nominated cartoon, “The Aquabats! Super Show!”
Most recently, the band put on a hell of a performance at Oak Canyon Ranch for Punk in the Park’s Lucky Punks festival.
They brought their larger-than-life theatrics, including costumed villains, and an inflatable Frankenstein to the big stage – it will be interesting to see them bring that same energy and showmanship to The Glass House.
Bite Me Bambi have become Orange County’s ska darlings, and they will get the crowd at The Glass House appropriately pumped.

They are also playing Punk in the Park in Denver this summer and will be joining the second half of Less Than Jake’s Summer Circus, along with Fishbone, and Suicide Machines.
Kicking off the night will be UK’s The Bar Stool Preachers. The ska-punk band has already built a loyal following, and fans are already eager with anticipation as the band rarely gets to play shows here in the States.

Aside from a club show at Punk Rock Bowling the band does not have any other US dates, making this a very special appearance.
Tickets are already on sale, and with the opening acts now announced, tickets will be moving even faster. Be sure to grab yours before it’s too late.
