ANAHEIM, Calif. (Sept 2, 2024) – Anaheim Police Department investigates a fatal hit-and-run traffic collision.
On September 2, 2024, at approximately 5:30 a.m., Anaheim Police officers and Anaheim Fire & Rescue personnel responded to the area of Anaheim Blvd. and Cerritos Ave. regarding a pedestrian lying on the ground. Upon arrival, they discovered an 84-year-old man suffering from severe traumatic injury. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. The initial investigation revealed that the pedestrian was possibly struck by a vehicle. However, the suspect vehicle left the scene before the officers arrived and is currently outstanding.
Traffic investigators responded to continue the investigation. Both directions of Anaheim Blvd, between Cerritos Ave and the I-5 freeway, were shut down for several hours.
The pedestrian’s identity has not been confirmed, pending results from the coroner’s office. Due to the ongoing investigation, the suspect vehicle description will not be released at this time.
